HAMILTON – A familiar face is moving up in the ranks of the women's basketball staff. Head women's basketball coach
Ganiyat Adeduntan announced the promotion of
Ethan Kenney to assistant coach on Saturday afternoon.
"I'm excited to name Ethan as an assistant coach," Adeduntan expressed. "He has worked extremely hard for this opportunity, and I expect nothing less than the same level of commitment in this new role.
"What I love, appreciate, and admire the most about Ethan is his growth mentality, selflessness, and loyalty to not just me but to our entire team and institution. He has impacted our program in many ways since the very beginning. I'm looking forward to continuing this journey with him."
Kenney most recently served as the director of basketball operations during the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons for the Raiders. As the director of operations, Kenney coordinated all aspects of team travel, including hotel bookings, planning meals for student-athletes and staff, securing transportation, creating itineraries, and maintaining the budget.
"It is truly an honor to have the opportunity to become an assistant coach here at Colgate under Coach G," Kenney said. "This is a program and staff that works extremely hard, and I am excited to continue to grow with everyone. I can't wait to help our scholar-athletes reach their potential on and off the court."
Kenney also directed all Colgate women's basketball camps and clinics, where he set up the camp schedule, reserved facilities, marketed the camps, created websites, reached out to high schools and AAU teams, and invited coaches to attend the camps.
Going into the 2022-23 season, he served as an interim assistant coach for the Raiders during the summer. As an interim assistant coach, Kenney conducted individual and group workouts with the guard and post positions to develop and refine their skills. Kenney also was allowed to recruit at different tournaments to find new talent for Colgate women's basketball.
Kenney and Adeduntan were first united at George Washington University when Coach G was an assistant coach. He served as a practice player and manager for their women's basketball program.
During his time with the Buff & Blue, Kenney was also an assistant operations manager for events and facilities, where he assisted the daily operations of the Charles E. Smith Center to go along with his women's basketball duties.
Kenney received his Bachelor of Arts in Biopsychology, Cognition, and Neuroscience from Michigan in 2019 and his Master of Science in Sport Management from George Washington in 2021.
