Tyburski Steps Down as Head Golf Coach

Coach Led Raiders to Historic 2022-23 Season

HAMILTON – Keith Tyburski has stepped down from his role as Colgate's head golf coach to become the next head coach at Yale.

Tyburski led Colgate Golf to new heights during his time in Hamilton. Since taking the helm in 2009, he coached two Patriot League Rookies of the Year, an individual Patriot League co-champion, four first team selections, five second team honorees, four Academic All-League members, and five CGAA Division I All-America Scholars.

"Colgate and the Hamilton community will always be a place I am proud to call home," Tyburski said. "I am incredibly grateful to have spent more than 13 years working alongside incredible administrators, coaches, and scholar-athletes."

"There are many things that make Colgate a special place. I look forward to maintaining the meaningful relationships I've built with all of the staff, athletes, and alumni as I move on in the next chapter of my professional career."

Tyburski, the winningest coach in program history, led Colgate to one of its most successful seasons in 2023. The Raiders placed second at the Patriot League Championship, tying the 1991 and 2001 teams for their best finish in the event. Four Colgate golfers placed in the top 10, the most in a championship tournament in the program's history.

"Congratulations to Keith as he embarks on the next chapter of his coaching career," said Interim Vice President and Director of Athletics Yariv Amir '01. "Keith has been a part of the fabric of the Colgate and Hamilton communities for many more years than his 13 as head coach and he will be missed by so many. His hard work and dedication has led our program to new heights over the last several years."

Colgate has placed in the top four of the Patriot League Championship in three of the last four years, including an individual co-champion in the 2019 final tournament at Seven Oaks Golf Club.

Tyburski developed three players to tie or beat their career low collegiate rounds on his way to being named the 2022 Patriot League Coach of the Year for the first time in his career. It was the first time since 2005 for a Colgate Golf head coach to earn the league's top honor.

A national search for the next Colgate Golf head coach will begin immediately.

"The time I have spent here has had an incredibly positive impact on me personally and professionally," Tyburski added. "The program is well positioned for future success, and has built considerable momentum in recent years. I'm excited to follow the continued growth of the team and will always be a Colgate fan in every way."
