FAIRFAX STATION, Va. — Colgate men's rowing competed at the Atlantic Sprints Sunday, with its varsity eight boat taking home a first-place finish.
The day started with the varsity eight defeating Marietta, FIT, and Loyola in its heat, with a time of 5:52.8. Colgate outlasted FIT by six seconds, Marietta by 11 seconds, and Loyola by 15 seconds.
In the grand final, the 1V8 logged a winning time of 5:58.7. The crew crossed the finish line seven seconds in front of second-place Saint Joseph's and defeated the other remaining boats by over 10 seconds to take the victory.
The second varsity eight boat competed once and earned a second-place finish. Colgate posted a time of 5:57.4, which trailed the winning boat from Saint Joseph's by just over a second after it came in at the 5:56.1 mark. The Raiders beat out Marist, Jacksonville, Marietta, and Loyola.
