HAMILTON — Colgate men's hockey hits the road this weekend to take on St. Lawrence in a best-of-three ECAC Hockey quarterfinal series.

Game 1 is Friday at 7 p.m., Game 2 is Saturday at 7 p.m., and Game 3, if necessary, is Sunday at 4 p.m.

The Raiders swept this year's regular season series for the first time since 2014-15. Colgate defeated the Saints 4-1 when the teams met on Nov. 12 in Canton. The Raiders then edged SLU 3-2 in an overtime thriller at home on Feb. 17.

HOW WE GOT HERE
Colgate advanced to the ECAC Hockey quarterfinals after defeating Dartmouth 5-3 in the first round last Friday at home.

The Raiders used balanced scoring to get by the Big Green as five different players scored, and 12 players recorded a point, led by
Simon Labelle, who tallied two with a goal and an assist. Junior goalie
Carter Gylander stopped 21 shots, including some big saves at the end to halt a Dartmouth comeback and earn his 15th win.

St. Lawrence had last weekend off after it earned the fourth seed in the tournament and a first-round bye.

SERIES HISTORY
The Raiders and Saints will meet for the 172nd time. St. Lawrence leads the series with an 84-79-8 record. Colgate is 6-3-1 in its last 10 games against the Saints. Four of those contests went into overtime, and six got decided by one goal. The Raiders are also 4-4-2 in their previous 10 away games against the Saints.

The two teams have met 20 times in the ECAC Hockey playoffs, with Colgate going 10-10 in those matchups. The last postseason meeting came during the abbreviated 2020-21 season, during which SLU defeated the Raiders 5-4 in overtime in the semifinals.

Colgate comes into the weekend averaging 2.87 goals per game and allowing 2.57 goals per contest, which is the 15th-fewest in the nation and the fourth-fewest in ECACH. The Saints are averaging 2.44 goals per game and are giving up 2.79 per contest.

The Raiders have logged a .838 penalty kill percentage which is third-best in ECACH and 12th in the nation. Colgate's .221 power play percentage is fourth-best in the conference. SLU is fifth in ECAC Hockey in penalty kill percentage at .815. The Saints also rank fifth in the league in faceoff wins (970) and faceoff win percentage (.507).

Alex DiPaolo leads the team and ranks tied for fourth in the conference in wins with 308. The Raiders are also second in ECACH in shots on goal with 1016 and fifth in shots on goal per game, averaging 29.03 per contest.

PLAYOFF PICTURE
If Colgate advances, it will head to Lake Placid, N.Y., next weekend for the second-straight year to play in the semifinals. Colgate's opponent would depend on the quarterfinal results, as the teams will be reseeded after the weekend. The semifinals are next Friday, and the championship game is Saturday.
