BALTIMORE, Md. – Colgate women's basketball secured the fourth seed in the 2022-23 Patriot League Championship after beating Loyola 64-50 in Baltimore.
Sophomore

Tiasia McMillan and senior

Colgate shot 50 percent from the field in the second half to secure the win over the Greyhounds. The Raiders scored 14 field goals between the two periods, with eight coming from the third.
The Raiders came out of the halftime break, scoring six unanswered points starting at 6:16 of the third to extend their lead to 38-30. Golembiewski,
Madison Schiller, and Maryland native
Sophia Diehl scored a field goal apiece in the burst. Loyola responded with a 6-4 run to cut the lead to six with 3:38 on the clock. Golembiewski broke the run with a three-point play with 12 seconds left of the period, but the Greyhounds drained a field goal at the buzzer to cut the lead to 45-38.
Brodie opened the fourth with back-to-back jumpers to lengthen the lead to double-digits at 11. Golembiewski went on a 4-2 run shortly after to increase the gap even further to 53-41 with 5:55 on the clock.
Morgan McMahon kept the offense going for Colgate, scoring seven quick points, with three coming from the charity strip to give the Raiders their largest lead of 19 points with 4:49 left of the game.
Loyola slashed the nine straight Raider points with a 3-pointer that started a 6-2 Greyhounds' run which shortened the deficit to 62-47. Golembiewski drained a layup to stifle the run with 2:34 on the clock. Loyola scored three quick points, but fortunately for Colgate, the 14-point gap was too much to overcome as the game ended with the Raiders up 64-50.

Head Women's Basketball Coach Ganiyat Adeduntan
"My kids came out ready to play in this game. We talked about having a level of toughness and being able to push through the runs we knew Loyola was going to have. We found ways to get boards and stops. Overall, we were disruptive defensively.
"As I've said before, it is hard to win and even harder to win on the road. To have multiple players score in the double-figures is huge. Taylor, Alexa, and Tiasia had great nights. There was a lot of selfless basketball on the offensive end.
"Our team is bought in, and we're committed. It's all about execution and making sure you show up every night. I couldn't be prouder of this team."
