HAMILTON – Fifth–year senior guard Alexa Brodie and senior forward Tiasia McMillan have been named captains for the Colgate women's basketball team leading up to the 2023-24 season. This is Brodie's fourth consecutive season being named captain and McMillian's first year earning this honor.

"Tiasia and Alexa have invested a lot into this program," said head coach Ganiyat Adeduntan. "I am excited that they will be able to lead their teammates together in this way in their senior seasons. They both provide a level of calmness and poise while also being fierce competitors. 

"What I admire the most is their work ethic and selflessness, which are great traits for leaders to have. I look forward to seeing them continue to grow with their leadership focus not only being pouring into their teammates, but also leaving a legacy for others for years to come."

Brodie averaged 7.3 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game last season in 29 starts. The southpaw had eight double-figure games including a season-high 15 points in a road win over UAlbany. She displayed her toughness on the defensive end of the court, with a career high five steals against Army on Feb. 15. The Chalfont, Pa., native is 284 points away from 1,000 career points.

McMillan averaged 7.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game last season across 28 games. The Seffner, Fla., product scored in double-figures 12 times along with a season-high 15 points against Holy Cross on Feb. 18. The forward got it done defensively as well, putting up a season high in blocks (3) and steals (2) in a road win against Loyola. 

Led by Brodie and McMillan, the Raiders open the season at Cotterell Court on Nov. 7, as they take on the Cornell Big Red at 7 p.m.
