Career-High Day for Parks Not Enough

Freshman Nicole Parks scored a career-high 14 points

EASTON, Pa. – Colgate dropped a 53-45 contest on the road to the Lafayette Leopards.
 
After being behind 31-18 at the break, Lafayette outscored Colgate 35-14 to win their fourth straight game.
 
Freshman Nicole Parks scored a career-high 14 points, shooting 100 percent from the field to lead the Raider offense. Parks added four rebounds and caused two turnovers to her stats sheet. Madison Schiller captured a career-high nine rebounds to lead the team defensively.
 
The Raiders shot over 53 percent in the first half, led by eight points off the bench from Parks. Defensively, both teams captured 15 rebounds, but the Raiders held the Leopards to 0-of-5 3-pointers in the first 20 minutes to lead by 13 at the break.
 
The Leopards opened the second half with a spark, going on a 7-0 run that cut the lead to six. Tiasia McMillan slashed the run with the Raiders' first point of the third period. Six straight points from Lafayette put the Leopards within one at 32-31. A foul on the Raiders allowed Lafayette to tie the game at 32.
 
Parks scored back-to-back layups to start a 6-0 Raider run to put Colgate up by six to close the third. The Leopards outscored Colgate 14-7, shooting over 54 percent from the field in the period.
 
Lafayette went on a 6-2 run that lasted 3:47 mid-final stanza to trail by two at 42-40. First year Abbey Ferguson sank a pair of free throws in the run for Colgate. The Leopards kept the offense going with a triple to take and keep the lead for the rest of the game with 4:23 on the clock.
 
The Leopards scored nine more unanswered points, with five points coming from fouls to lead by their largest margin of 10 points with 44 seconds left. Sophomore Taylor Golembiewski broke the run with a trey, but a foul on Colgate allowed Lafayette to score one more point to close the game ahead 53-45.
 
UP NEXT
The Raiders (10-11, 4-6 PL) do not see the court again till Saturday, Feb. 4, when American comes to Hamilton. Tip-off against the Eagles is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Cotterell Court.
