HAMILTON — Colgate junior goalie
Carter Gylander was one of 41 players named to the Mike Richter Award Watch List, announced by the Hockey Commissioners Association Thursday.
The Richter Award is an honor given to the top goalie in NCAA Division I men's hockey. It has been presented annually since 2014.
Gylander currently leads ECAC Hockey and is fifth in the nation in saves with 579. Additionally, his 27.57 saves per game rank second-best in the conference.
He has recorded seven 30-plus save games this season, including a season-high 41-stop performance against Quinnipiac on Nov. 4.
The Beaumont, Alberta native has logged a .922 save percentage, which is fourth-best in ECACH, and a 2.33 goals-against average. He has 10 wins on the year, seven of which have come in conference play.
Gylander was named ECAC Hockey MAC Goaltending Goaltender of the Week on Jan. 4 after logging a combined 51 saves in two games against Maine.
A committee of voters will cut the list down to approximately 15 names within the next three weeks. The winner will be announced in April during the NCAA Frozen Four. A full list of names on the watch list can be found

Colgate is back in action Jan. 20 when it welcomes Princeton to the Class of 1965 Arena and then Quinnipiac the next day. Opening face-off is 7 p.m. for both contests.
