Golf Wraps Up Doc Gimmler Invitational

Gertsen’s 22nd Place Finish Paces Raiders

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – Mark Gertsen's career-best 66 in the second round on Saturday paced the Raiders to an 11th place finish in this weekend's Doc Gimmler Invitational.

Gertsen rallied for back-to-back rounds under par to close out the tournament. The senior fired a two-under 68 on Sunday to finish two-under for the tournament, anchored by Saturday's career-best 66 (-4). He finished with a 208 to lead Colgate's scoring contingent in 22nd place.

Playing as an individual, Michael Hanratty also finished under par (-1) after carding an even 70 in the final round on Sunday. Hanratty's 209 composite score placed him in a tie for 27th place. Dugan McCabe finished two strokes back with a 211 (+1) for the tournament.

Wyatt Petersen was Colgate's biggest mover on Sunday, jumping nine spots to finish in a tie for 52nd place. Petersen fired a one-under-par 69 in the final round to close with a 215 (+5) scorecard. Robbie Herzig (+6) and Akhil Giri (+9) were also competing in the field.

Colgate stayed even on Sunday to finish in 11th place as a team with a 293-275-278=846 three-day scorecard. Harvard (-33) beat St. John's (-32) by one stroke to take the title.

UP NEXT
Colgate heads to the west coast for the Husky Invitational hosted by Washington next Monday and Tuesday at the Gold Mountain Club in Bremerton, Wash.
