Colgate’s Second-Round 275 Breaks Program Record

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – Colgate Golf fired a record-breaking 275 in the second round to highlight Saturday's opening day of the Doc Gimmler Invitational at Bethpage State Park.

The Raiders' 275 second-round total shaved off 18 strokes from their opening round and broke last year's 280 mark for the lowest single-round score in program history. Colgate's 280 came from the Bucknell Invitational en route to a fifth-place finish in 2021.

Mark Gertsen led the charge with a second-round 66 (-4), which tied the all-time low total for a single round, not in relation to par. Ryan Skae '20 carded a pair of 66s in 2019-20 at the Cornell and Ron Moore Invitationals.

Gertsen's four-under-par was tied for the third-lowest score of the second round and helped Colgate jump three spots into 11th on the team leaderboard.

Michael Hanratty leads Colgate in 23rd after carding a 69 and 70 to finish one-under for the day. Gertsen and Dugan McCabe are not far behind in 27th after finishing even for the day. Robbie Herzig (T54), Wyatt Petersen (T61), and Akhil Giri (T74) round out Colgate's contingent.

Colgate's 275 second round was tied for the fourth lowest team total on the course. The Raiders opened with a 293 and sit in 11th place at +8 with one round to go. Harvard (-23) is the leader, two shots ahead of St. John's.
