Colgate Splits Doubleheader at Lafayette

Misken Fires Complete Game Shutout in 5-0 Victory

EASTON, Pa. – Colgate and Lafayette split their series opening doubleheader on Saturday. The Raiders took the first game 5-0 before dropping the nightcap 8-1.

Bailey Misken continued the hot hand in the circle, earning her fourth win of the season in the opening game of the three-game series. Misken scattered six hits and struck out five over seven innings to climb to ninth all-time in career strikeouts with 215.

Quinn Livesay and Meaghan Houk anchored Colgate offensively with three hits apiece. All three of Houk's hits went for extra bases, plus she added a walk and two runs scored. Livesay clubbed her first collegiate home run and capped her day with two RBIs and a run scored.

Game 1 | Colgate 5, Lafayette 0

Jillian Herbst sparked the Raiders with a leadoff walk in the top of the first. She worked her way around the bases before scoring on a fielding error to put the Raiders in front 1-0.

Livesay ignited a big fourth inning with a solo homer to left field. Houk doubled and Elizabeth Nitka reached on an error before scoring on Herbst's two-run single. Herbst scored on another defensive miscue to push Colgate's lead to 5-0 after four innings.

That was plenty of run support for Misken, who pitched a perfect fifth inning and stranded a runner on third in the sixth. She finished off her eighth career shutout with a perfect seventh inning and Colgate cruised to the 5-0 victory in Game 1.

With the win, Head coach Marissa Lamison-Myers moved into second place on Colgate's all-time head coaching wins chart with 77 career victories. Vickie Sax is the winningest coach in program history with 313 triumphs.

Herbst paced the offense with two hits, two RBIs, and two runs scored. Morgan Farrah, Steph Jacoby, Livesay, Houk and Herbst each registered two hits in the victory.

Game 2 | Lafayette 8, Colgate 1

Each team had two hits through the first two scoreless frames of the nightcap. Kaitlyn Borruso replaced Mia Edwards in the circle in the bottom of the second and escaped a bases-loaded jam with an inning-ending popout to keep the game 0-0.

The Leopards cashed in on their next opportunity one inning later. With runners on second and third, Julia Roman scored the first runs of the day for Lafayette on a two-run double and the home team took an early 2-0 lead.

Colgate grabbed a run back in the top of the fourth when Livesay punched a pinch-hit RBI single into right center field. Houk scored on the play after poking a one-out double to right field.

Unfortunately that would be the final threat for the Raiders. Back-to-back RBI singles from Grace Harvey and Kaya Ciccone-Cozart capped a three-run home half of the fifth for Lafayette. The Leopards added three runs in the sixth to pull away for the 8-1 victory in Game 2.

Rebecca Johnson led the Raiders offensively with two hits in the contest.
