Colgate’s Memorable Season Comes to an End in PL Quarterfinals

Raiders fall to Army West Point 4-0

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Facing a tenacious and formidable Army team for the second time in eight days, the sixth-seeded Raiders fell to the No. 3 seed Cadets in the quarterfinals of the 2022 Patriot League Women's Tennis Championship Friday afternoon at Lehigh's Ulrich Varsity Tennis Courts.

Army jumped out to an early 1-0 lead with victories on the No. 1 and 2 doubles courts. In singles play, the Cadets recorded wins at No. 3, 5 and 6 to clinch the match 4-0 and advance to Saturday's semifinals.

The Raiders (11-10, 3-2 PL) concluded the season with their most wins since the 2012-13 campaign.

FROM THE SOURCE
Head Coach Bobby Pennington

"A brutal ending to a beautiful season. Army, Navy, and Boston simply are too good and at another level. Our goal was to be 4/5 and we came down to a seeding tiebreaker for that and fell just short. Credit and game ball go to Levenson for leading at No. 2 singles when the match was called. We accomplished so many of our goals including a winning season (best in ten years), winning league record, and beating Lehigh. We return our top seven and bring in three talented freshmen, so we will only improve and God willing be in the semis where we belong."
