Jacoby’s Walk-Off Homer Completes Weekend Sweep

Raiders Knock Off Bucknell 1-0 for Fourth Straight Win

HAMILTON, N.Y. – Steph Jacoby capped the weekend sweep of Bucknell with a walk-off homer to left center and Colgate knocked off the Bison 1-0 on a cold Sunday afternoon at the Eaton Street Softball Complex.

The pitching duel between Bailey Misken and Kelly Toomey saw zeroes across the board heading to the bottom of the seventh. With one out, Jacoby scorched an 0-1 pitch over the wall in left center and was met by a mob at home plate after her fourth homer of the season.

Jacoby's walk-off home run was just the fourth hit of the day between the two teams. Colgate had three of those hits, and the other two belonged to leadoff hitter Jillian Herbst. Misken fired a complete game one-hit shutout with three strikeouts for her third win of the weekend.

Herbst beat out an infield single to start the game and that was the only hit through five innings. Misken lost her no-hit bid in the top of the sixth when Ava Aguilar lined a leadoff single down the left field line. Misken stranded her with an inning-ending groundout to keep it 0-0.

Herbst drove a single through the right side in the bottom of the sixth. Looking to put pressure on the defense, Taylor Ludwick tried advancing from first to third on the hit but she was thrown out by a perfect throw from right-fielder Jessie Kincer to end the inning still scoreless.

Colgate made the most of its next opportunity at the plate, with Jacoby's heroics sending the Raiders home with their fourth consecutive win.

The game was delayed one hour to prepare the field after Saturday's heavy rain and Sunday morning's snow squalls. With temperatures hovering in the mid-30s, the sun made its first appearance late in the game and Colgate's bats responded accordingly.

Head Coach Marissa Lamison-Myers

"It was a tough day to play. I could not be prouder of the way Bailey Misken pitched through the conditions. You could feel one run was going to do it and Steph Jacoby swung at the right pitch. We can enjoy this one but once Monday comes it's back to work."
