URBANA, Md. – Colgate climbed two spots on Sunday to finish in a tie for fifth place in its spring debut at the Carpetbagger Classic hosted by the Worthington Manor Golf Club.
Colgate was among the biggest movers on Sunday, jumping from seventh after opening day on Saturday. The course, which totaled 7,034 yards, played more than a full stroke harder on Sunday.
Colgate concluded the tournament with a 303-307-610 composite, tied with Fairleigh Dickinson and Cornell for fifth at +34 overall. Rhode Island took home medalist honors with a 291-292-583 composite.
Kevin Hollomon led Colgate's Sunday charge, moving up 15 places to finish tied for seventh on the individual leaderboard with a five-over-par 149. Hollomon carded a 75-74-149 aggregate, and his two-over-par 74 second-round score was Colgate's top individual performance on Sunday. His T7 finish marked the best career scoring mark for the freshman.
Dugan McCabe and
Michael Hanratty finished tied for 16th at seven-over-par with 151s.
Jack Maguire climbed nine spots with a steady 76-76-152 (+8), while
Akhil Giri rounded out Colgate's top five in 28th with a 74-79-153 final card.
In the field of 11 teams, the Raiders only finished behind Rhode Island (583), Robert Morris (596), Towson (600), and Bryant (600).
