Raiders Drop Decision to Host Jacksonville State

Bailey Misken recorded 11 strikeouts in 5.2 innings of work

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – For the first five-plus innings Colgate and Jacksonville State were tangled in a scoreless tie on Wednesday evening at University Field.

But, the Gamecocks (15-8) sent three runs across in the bottom of the sixth inning to take down the visiting Raiders (8-10), 3-0.

All three of JSU's runs were unearned as the inning began with a walk and an error to put the first two runners on base. The next two Gamecock batters struck out, but Abby Perkins pinch-hit double plated two runs and broke the scoreless tie. JSU followed with a run-scoring single that made it a 3-0 game and claimed their sixth straight win.

Colgate had at least one base runner in each of the first six innings, but couldn't put together more than one hit in a frame. The Raiders had four hits and stranded six runners on base.

Bailey Misken went 5.2 innings in the circle for Colgate. She struck out a season-high 11 and allowed zero earned runs.

Rachel Carney went 2-3 at the plate with a single in the second inning and doubled in the fourth inning.

Colgate was also supposed to face Southeastern Louisiana on Wednesday, but weather and fog forced the game to be canceled.
