Colgate Drops 6-1 Decision to Saint Francis in Opener

Emme Levenson, Katerina Atallah and Emily Untermeyer pick up matches for the Raiders

ALTOONA, Pa. The Colgate women's tennis team fell to Saint Francis 6-1 in the Raiders' first match of the 2022 spring dual season at Gorilla House Gym on Sunday.

Saint Francis took five of six singles points. Colgate junior Emme Levenson defeated Anouk Ma-Ajong 6-3, 7-6 at no. 2 singles, while first-year Jordan Ben-Shmuel took Saint Francis's Romina Cupita to the limit at no. 4 singles, ultimately falling 6-2, 6-7, 10-8.

Colgate's no. 3 doubles team of Katerina Atallah/Emily Untermeyer topped Cupita and Marie Discini 7-5, but the Red Flash prevailed at the no. 1 and 2 spots to claim the doubles point.

Head Coach Bobby Pennington

"Tough loss for our women today. We lost a heartbreaking doubles point and many tiebreakers overall. Kudos to Atallah/Untermeyer winning in doubles and Levenson winning in singles. We look to be fully warmed up and fully healthy for Providence."
