Game 1 | Pacific 4, Colgate 3
Â
Pacific scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth and that was the difference in the opener. Trailing 3-2, Marissa Fabian reached on a bunt with two runners on base, and a throwing error on the play allowed both runs to score to give Pacific its first lead of the day 4-3.
Â
Colgate went down in order in the top of the seventh and the Tigers held on for the 4-3 win.
Â
The Raiders led for most of the game after Nardone roped a two-run double to center field in the top of the first. Another RBI double by Farrah in the third inning extended Colgate's lead to 3-1 with
Kara Fusco coming around to score.
Â
Pacific's Reagan Hamilton homered in the fourth to make it 3-2 and that was the score until the Tigers rallied with the tying and go-ahead runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Â
Mia Edwards started in the circle but did not factor in the decision. The freshman pitcher tossed three innings and allowed two runs on two hits with one strikeout.
Kaitlyn Borruso shouldered the loss after conceding two runs (one earned) in two innings of relief.
Â
Game 2 | Colorado State 12, Colgate 4
Â
Both sides got their bats going early with seven runs scored in the first two innings. Nardone opened the scoring in the top of the first with a single up the middle scoring Herbst.
Â
After Colorado State scored three times in the home half of the first, Herbst added to her big day with a two-run double in the top of the second. She later scored on a wild pitch to put the Raiders in front 4-3 after an inning and a half.
Â
Colgate's lead unfortunately did not hold. Colorado State scored nine unanswered runs over the last three innings. The home team took the lead for good with five runs in the third, and they added four runs in the fifth to end the game in five innings by a 12-4 final score.
