POTSDAM, N.Y. — Clarkson scored three goals in the third period to secure a 4-0 victory over Colgate on Friday at Cheel Arena.
In the second period, the Golden Knights got on the board with just over six minutes remaining. Noah Beck centered the puck to Alex Campbell for a backdoor tap-in that he finished off with ease.
Clarkson netted three goals in the third to extend their lead to four. Alex Campbell put one in on a power play just under six minutes into the period after the Raiders got called for boarding. Campbell found the loose puck in front of the net and finished off a shot to make it 2-0 Clarkson.
Five minutes later, Anthony Callin found the back of the net to make it a 3-0 game. Campbell then topped off Clarkson's scoring when he completed a hat trick with his third goal of the night at the 12:10 mark.
The Raiders had a handful of good scoring chances throughout the game. Just over eight and a half minutes into the final period, Levi Glasman had an open look at goal from close up, but he put his shot just wide of the net.
Colgate got its first power play of the game at the 13:06 mark of the second after the Golden Knights got called for too many men on the ice, but the Raiders could not capitalize. With just under four and a half minutes remaining, Reid Irwin got by two Clarkson defenders and had an open look at the goal, but his shot got saved.
Ryan McGuire and Colton Young also had shots on goal during the middle frame that they could not get past the Golden Knights' netminder.
The Raiders had two shots hit off the post in the game, one in the second period, and one in the third.
Neither team got on the scoreboard in the first. During the period, Ben Raymond had two breakaway chances two minutes from each other, but he got denied on both. The first was at the 9:30 mark, and the second was with 7:30 remaining.
Carter Gylander made 23 saves in goal in just over 53 minutes. Andrew Takacs played the final seven minutes, making his collegiate debut.

Head Coach Don Vaughan
"Another Friday night and another missed opportunity. Our offensive possession time was okay but we had nothing to show for it on the scoreboard. We had a couple of very good looks in the first period and a couple of goalposts but that won't win you games. We must find a way to dig deeper and generate second and third chances. We have an opportunity to get it right tomorrow night."
