HAMILTON – Colgate men's soccer kicked off Saturday night honoring their 11 seniors before taking on Army in a Patriot League conference matchup. After a back and forth 90 minutes, the Raiders walked away with a 1-1 draw.
Bobby Foose led the way for the Raiders, netting his first career goal off a penalty kick in the 72nd minute. Foose pounded the penalty kick past the keeper's outstretched arm. Leading up to the Raiders goal, Colgate was honed in on a strong offensive opportunity before a Black Knights defender stopped a shot with his hand, foring the ref to call a handball and issue the penalty kick.
The Black Knights didn't wait long to answer back, as they tied things up in the 77th minute off a cross in the box. Army worked the ball into the Raiders defensive zone, finding open lanes before knocking in the game-tying goal.
Andrew Cooke played lights out for the Raiders, stopping eight shots, a career high for the junior keeper. Cooke came up big in the final 10 minutes of play, disallowing strong offensive chances from the Black Knights.
Aidan Davock was hungry for a goal, firing two shots in 69 minutes of play, sailing one just wide of the net and forcing the Black Knights keeper to make a save on the other.
The Raiders battled hard, firing nine shots to the Black Knights 11. Colgate forced the Black Knights keeper to make three saves, counting on his team to stop the fourth.
