WASHINGTON D.C. – Colgate was unable to turn its seven shots into a goal on Sunday afternoon in a 2-0 loss to host American at Reeves Field
American took a 1-0 lead when Izzy Kadzban scored during the 55th minute. The Eagles expanded their lead with a goal in the 76th minute scored by Alysa Vazquez.
Two of the Raiders' shots were on goal, both of which American's keeper Julia Kato stopped.
Juniors
Sara Anelli and
Lyna Schaffer accounted for Colgate's two shots on net.
The Raiders had four corners in the game, with one in the first half and three in the second.
During Colgate's first corner kick in the 37th minute, Ari Bezaon released a shot that got blocked by an AU defender.
Colgate's senior keeper Grace Poncsak recorded three saves. American tallied 15 shots with five going on goal.
Two of the Raiders' second half corners came in the final five minutes of the game, but they could not get anything going as the Eagles' defense held strong.
