Edelstein's Goal Not Enough in Raiders' 3-1 Defeat

Two Second Half Goals Pushes Holy Cross Over Colgate

WORCESTER, MASS. – Max Edelstein scored an equalizing goal in the Colgate men's soccer team's 3-1 defeat at Holy Cross on Wednesday evening.

The Crusaders got on the board early as Evan Jones scored just two minutes into the game.

Colgate only had a few shots in the first half but made it count when it was needed most.

In the 19th minute, Aidan Davock ripped a shot that was saved but deflected right to Edelstein who put it in off the rebound to tie it up at 1-1.

The Raiders had a chance to pull ahead just before the half as with one minute left Edward Bass hit one off the post.

In the second half, Colgate had a couple of early chances as a corner kick in the 54th minute led to shots by Adam Fam and Drew Fischer but neither could find the back of the net.

In the 59th minute, the Crusaders pulled back ahead when Jon Klein put one past Nick Gerlach for a 2-1 lead.

Just over a minute later, Holy Cross struck again when Dylan Scanley found the back of the net.

The Raiders had another close chance in the 88th minute when Davock hit one off the post from in close.

FROM THE SOURCE
Head Coach Erik Ronning

"Despite starting slow and conceding early, the first half was very positive. We responded well, scored a really good goal, and felt great about the performance. We picked up where we left off in the second half generating a couple of good chances. Holy Cross' second goal kind of came out of nothing and we were not able to recover. There were a lot of positives today, and I do believe we are a step closer. We will continue to fight and get better every day."
