Colgate Ends Spring Football Season

Positive Covid Test Forces Raiders to Cancel Final Game

Patriot League Release

HAMILTON –
Colgate Athletics announced Wednesday that the football team is unable to play Saturday's game against Holy Cross because of a positive Covid-19 test within the program's Tier 1 personnel.

The Raiders were scheduled to play their third and final spring regular season game and first home contest this Saturday against Holy Cross.

"I feel for the players," Colgate head coach Dan Hunt said. "They sacrificed an incredible amount in order to have this spring season. They never complained and never brought less than 100 percent every day. With the pod structure, we still were alive to play in the title game.

"We now begin the process of preparing for the 2021 season, which is right around the corner."

Colgate finishes its spring season 0-2 and begins offseason preparations for the 2021 fall campaign. The Raiders open Sept. 4 at Boston College.
