Senior Day to Remember for Women's Soccer

Pinkus Nets Two of Colgate’s Three Second-Half Goals

HAMILTON – Colgate deposited three second-half goals to pull away for a 4-0 victory over Holy Cross in the Raiders' final regular season home game on Saturday at Beyer-Small '76 Field.

Hannah Pinkus netted two of those second-half goals after Lexi Mitchell scored less than five minutes into the contest. Adrienne Vaughn added the fourth and final strike in the 74th minute.

Colgate's four goals were its most since netting the same production in a 4-1 win over Lafayette on Oct. 17, 2017. Pinkus is Colgate's first two-goal scorer since Martina Loncar found the net twice at Loyola on Sept. 15, 2018.

The Raiders struck right out of the gate with Mitchell's first goal of the season in the fifth minute. Ellis Miller set it up with a centering pass from the right side and Mitchell blasted home the one-timer for an early 1-0 advantage.

Sophia Boggs made three saves in the first half, but none bigger than the first one in the 24th minute. She raced out to cut off the angle from Katie Quinn on a breakaway and smothered the low shot into her chest.

Colgate came out smoking hot in the second half. Pinkus netted her first of back-to-back tallies in the 57th minute. Ruby Diodati created the chance with a perfect free kick into the box and Pinkus headed home the one-timer to extend the lead to 2-0.

Another set piece to perfection led to Pinkus' second goal less than 10 minutes later. Sage DiGiulio twirled a perfect corner kick into the center of the box and Pinkus connected from the sweet spot to push the lead to 3-0 in the 66th minute.

Adrienne Vaughn buried her second goal of the season in the 74th minute, making a move in the box and drilling a high shot into the netting.

Boggs was untoched in the second half as Colgate's relentless offense paved the way to the 4-0 Senior Day triumph.

FROM THE SOURCE
Head Coach Lyndse Hokanson

On the game:
"I'm so immensely proud of the group and their performance today. We've been working so hard on a mentality in and around the goal, so for us to score a couple today and get the shutout was really a great reward.

"Lexi [Mitchell] got us on the board quickly and it set the tone for us the rest of the day. I couldn't be happier for her and for that moment. I know the group wanted to honor this special senior class today and I'd say that they did. I'm so happy for the girls, and I hope it propels us into a strong week of training as we prepare for Army."

NOTES
• Colgate's shutout was its fourth straight against Holy Cross.
Hannah Pinkus now leads the team with three goals and six points this season.

Adrienne Vaughn scored her second goal of the season in the win.
• The shutout was Colgate's first of the season and Sophia Boggs' seventh career clean sheet.
