HAMILTON – Head coach
Ryan Baker picked up his 250th career win in a 3-1 victory over Bucknell on Saturday evening.
Baker is just the second coach to reach that milestone along with Janet Little.
The Raiders jumped out to an early 10-4 lead in the first set, but the Bison quickly fought back to tie it up at 12-12.
Both sides went back and forth for the remainder of the set. After the score was tied up at 19-19 Colgate went on to score six straight points for a 25-19 win.
It was another battle at the beginning of the second set. A quick 5-1 run in the middle of it gave the Raiders a 20-15 advantage but Bucknell responded with another push.
Colgate went ahead 23-19 and then finished it off with kills from
Libby Overmyer and
Sophie Thompson to take the set 25-20.
In the third set, Bucknell opened up an 11-8 lead before the Raiders went on a 5-1 run to go up 13-12. Later in the set, Bucknell went on a 6-1 streak to earn a 25-21 victory.
Colgate jumped out to an early 8-3 lead in the fourth set thanks to a kill by Allie Lowe and back-to-back kills by
Harper Snyder.
Midway through the set, a five-point run by the Raiders put them up 20-14 but the Bison answered right back with nine unanswered points to take a 23-21 lead.
Back-to-back kills by Overmyer followed by a game-winning kill by Thompson ended the game at 26-24.
Allie Lowe led the Raiders with 14 kills while
Julia Kurowski finished with 26 assists. On the defensive side,
Cami Carfino recorded nine digs to lead Colgate.
