Brown Nets Four Goals at Hobart

Raiders Fall 21-13; Home Opener Next Saturday vs Boston U.

GENEVA, N.Y. – Griffin Brown scored his third hat trick in four games and Nicky Petkevich tallied three goals and three assists in a 21-13 loss at Hobart.

Brown finished with four goals Saturday, giving him a team-leading 12. Petkevich had his best scoring day of the young season with six points, matching a career high.

The Raiders were trading one goal for every two Statesmen goals until the score was 8-4 Hobart early in the second quarter. Consecutive goals by Petkevich and Brown midway in the second pulled the Raiders within 9-6 with still 7:44 remaining before half.

Colgate put together another two-goal spurt later in the quarter when Brian Minicus scored unassisted and then Malcolm Feeney tallied the first of his career just 13 seconds later to make it 11-8. One final Hobart score just before the horn gave the Statesmen a 12-8 edge at halftime.

The home side put the game away with a 5-1 scoring edge in the third quarter, with Brown accounting for the lone Colgate tally. Brown scored twice more in the fourth quarter but it wasn't enough.
