Berdo Joining Yale Staff as Deputy AD

Senior Associate AD Spent Two Years at Colgate; Served as SWA

Colgate Senior Associate Athletics Director Mary Berdo has accepted a position as Deputy Athletics Director at Yale University and will join the Yale staff in mid-April.
 
Mary BerdoIn her new role at Yale, Berdo will serve on the department's executive staff, have sport supervision responsibilities, oversee programming and administration of equipment services, championships, event management, and student services. She'll also serve as the school's primary liaison to the Ivy League.
 
"I have had a wonderful two years working at Colgate," Berdo said. "It is a bittersweet moment for me to leave a place and people that have been so important to me, but at the same time I am excited for the opportunity at Yale. I would like to thank Colgate, Nicki Moore, and all of the coaches and department staff that have made the last two years so special."
 
Berdo joined the Colgate staff in the summer of 2017 and has had a positive impact on the Athletics Department. At Colgate, Berdo oversaw several teams as well as various functional areas: equipment services, physical education and recreation, and sports performance. In the last year, Berdo developed, implemented and administered a new sport administration program, kicked-off a department-wide professional development program, and served as the Department's Senior Woman Administrator.
 
"Mary has been a valuable member of my executive team since I arrived to Colgate last summer," Colgate Vice President and Director of Athletics Nicki Moore said. "She has provided balanced counsel, has stepped up when we've needed her leadership, and has become a go-to resource and mentor for many of our coaches and staff. I am happy for Mary that she has this opportunity to take another significant step in her career, life and growth, and I am confident she will continue contributing to our profession in positive and significant ways."
 
Berdo came to Colgate after eight years at the NCAA national office, first as an assistant director and later as an Associate Director of Championships.
