Strong Second Half Sends Raiders Past American

Eight Different Goal Scorers Put Up Points in 13-11 Victory

WASHINGTON – The Colgate women's lacrosse program improved to a three-game win streak on Saturday afternoon as it defeated Patriot League foe American by a 13-11 score on the road.

Fueled by Noelle Patterson's fifth hat trick of the season and eight different goal scorers, the Raiders were off to a fast start by scoring just 37 seconds into the game. Although Patterson put the Raiders on the board early with her first of the day, American responded with a tying goal just a minute later. A trend that would continue through the opening half, goals were scored back-and-forth at either end of the field before an eventual 6-6 tie after 30:00.

Colgate came out of the halftime break with an offensive energy that propelled the Raider's ahead to an 8-6 lead behind Danielle Van Calcar's free position chance. The sophomore fed the ball to the top of the crease before Lindsay West scored down low. The play ignited a four-goal run for the Raiders, building a 10-6 advantage on the board. As American attempted to inch back with intermittent goals, Patterson topped off her hat trick with a full-field effort and goal number 13 for the Raiders. Although the Eagles made a late push with a pair of goals, Colgate's defense held strong for the 13-11 victory.

COACH BEVILLE'S TAKE
"After a very back-and-forth first half, we were successfully able to pull away in the second half. We made some changes on the draw circle that ultimately ended up giving us a few more possessions than American.

"We had great play off the bench with Alissa [Masini], CC [Telesco], and Payton [Gabriel] scoring big goals for us. I also have to shout out Hanna Christian and Sam Croston for their efforts on the defensive end. The luck of #13 was with us today!"
