BOSTON – Although the Raiders battled with a nine-goal second half, the Colgate women's lacrosse program fell in a 17-12 final to Boston University on Wednesday evening.
After the Terriers opened the scoring shortly after the first draw, Colgate responded by scoring on back-to-back free position shots for its first lead of the day 2-1. Boston University answered in a similar manner with a pair of quick goals to regain the lead, before
Noelle Patterson's first tally tied the game for the Raiders yet again. The scoring would continue to go back-and-forth as Boston University reached a 4-3 lead midway through the half but a six-goal run led to a 9-3 advantage for the Terriers.
Colgate faced a significant 12-3 deficit as it returned for the second half of action but came out with a vengeance in which the Raiders tallied three straight goals in the first 3:00 of play, fueled by Patterson's hat trick tally. The Raider's three-goal run came to an end as Boston University put up another pair of goals midway through, but Colgate's offense continued to pressure back. After
Annelise Kotz spun around the defense for her second on the day, the Raiders were on a 5-2 run through the second half to narrow Boston University's lead yet again.
Just as how the half started, Colgate put up a pair of goals in the final 2:00 of regulation but ultimately the Raiders' nine-goal second half fell short as the Terriers came out victorious in the 17-12 final to remain undefeated in Patriot League action.

COACH BEVILLE'S TAKE
"After a disappointing first half, I'm proud of the way we responded in the second half. We came out and scored three goals in 3:00 and competed better with the 50/50 balls. I love the way we have been spreading the wealth on the offensive end with three players recording four points each. We look forward to building off our second half momentum from today's game in preparation for Bucknell on Saturday."
