BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Rapolas Ivanauskas poured in a career-high 33 points and hauled in 10 rebounds to lead the Colgate men's basketball team to a convincing 84-62 victory over Lehigh on Monday night at Stabler Arena.
Ivanauskas' 33 points were the second-most in a Patriot League contest this season. His ninth double-double helped spoil Lehigh's league-best four-game winning streak and lead the Raiders to their first regular-season sweep over the Mountain Hawks since 2015.
Will Rayman finished in double figures with 10 points to go with six rebounds, while
Tucker Richardson paced the Raiders with nine assists and three steals.
It took just over three minutes for Colgate to claim the lead for good, when
Dana Batt converted a pair of free throws and finished a pass from Richardson under the basket to pull the Raiders ahead 6-5. That was part of a 9-0 run for the Raiders, who built an 11-5 lead after Ivanauskas drained a 3-pointer from the wing.
Lehigh drew within 13-10 on a 3-pointer from Lance Tejada before the Raiders scored 10 of the next 12 points to open a 23-12 lead midway through the half. Ivanauskas and Richardson both knocked down triples and
Malcolm Regisford added four points over that stretch.
Against the top three-point shooting team in the country, the Raiders were the better team from downtown early. They started 5-of-7 from beyond the arc after back-to-back treys from Rayman and
Jack Ferguson propelled the Raiders out in front 33-16 with just over eight minutes left in the first half.
Colgate controlled the tempo from the opening tip, pairing its sharp shooting with aggressive defense. Turnovers were 13-1 at the half and the Raiders outscored the Mountain Hawks 17-0 in points off turnovers en route to a 25-point lead at the break, 50-25.
The Raiders' lead reached a game-high 32 points at 65-33 just over five minutes into the second half after Richardson found Ivanauskas for an easy bucket in the paint.
Lehigh attempted to climb back into the game with an 8-0 run to close the gap to 65-41 on a layup from Jeameril Wilson with just under 12 minutes to play. Wilson added a pair of free throws to make it a 20-point game 70-50 three minutes later, but that was as close as the Mountain Hawks would get.
A pair of 3-pointers from Ferguson down the stretch knocked the wind out of Lehigh's sails and pulled the Raiders ahead 80-53.
Ivanauskas sank a pair of free throws and
Zach Light capped off the scoring with a layup from
Sam Lindgren to lead the Raiders to the 84-62 final.

FROM THE SOURCE
• Colgate head coach Matt Langel:
Final thoughts: "Obviously lots went our way tonight. With that said, our guys were focused and disciplined on both ends of the court. We shared the ball without turning it over on offense and on defense we did a good enough job not to let Lehigh find their offensive rhythm that makes them so dangerous."
On Ivanauskas' play: "Rap played great. He took advantage of what the defense gave him and scored at the rim on drives and post ups as well as from the free throw line and behind the arc. The five assists to two turnovers was hopefully a sign of his growth as a player as he works through his first healthy season of college basketball. His energy was terrific and it was something his teammates fed off of at both ends of the court."
On the offensive efficiency: "26 assists on 30 field goals is a tremendous stat. It speaks to our sharing the ball and playing connected. I thought our spacing was great; we attacked well and we stepped up and made some timely shots. Tucker has had the ball in his hands more in Jordan's absence and he certainly showed continued growth tonight in his decision-making abilities."
