Van Calcar Hat Trick Highlights Siena Matchup

Siena’s Fast Start Propels Saints to 9-6 Victory in Hamilton

HAMILTON – Behind a hat trick by Danielle Van Calcar, the Colgate women's lacrosse program attempted to battle back after Siena's fast start but ultimately dropped a narrow 9-6 decision on Thursday night.

Siena was first to get on the board with two goals in the first 2:13, before the Saints built an eventual 5-1 lead midway through the first half. Behind Van Calcar's back-to-back goals, Colgate cut Siena's lead to just a 5-3 margin by the horn of the first half.

Colgate's momentum continued into the second half as Noelle Patterson's second of the night came just 37 seconds after haltime to make it a one-goal game. After Siena regained its two-goal lead, Van Calcar put Colgate back within one with her hat trick goal aiming to fuel a second half push.

After Siena powered back with a three-goal run, Tara Atkinson closed out the scoring with 2:50 remaining leaving the score at 9-6.
