HAMILTON – Ryan Krueger netted the game-winning goal with less than two minutes remaining in overtime to lift the No. 25 Colgate Raiders to a thrilling 2-1 come-from-behind victory over Albany on Monday night at Beyer-Small '76 Field.
Â
Krueger's first career goal came in the 99th minute and put a stamp on a late comeback for the Raiders.
Kentaro Morrison tracked down a long pass from the defensive end, made one move on a defender and found Krueger at the doorstep, where he hammered home the one-touch goal to give Colgate the victory.Â
Â
Krueger was also involved in the first goal of the night for Colgate, which came almost exactly 10 minutes earlier. With Colgate trailing by one late, Krueger lofted a corner kick into the box, where
Christian Clarke battled traffic in front and set up
Aram Ouligian for a header to the back of the net in the 89th minute. Ouligian's tally tied the match at 1-1 after Albany had broken the scoreless tie earlier in the half.
Â
Albany struck first just under 20 minutes into the second stanza after a Raider foul led to a free kick from just outside the box. Two Great Danes came in on the free kick to cause confusion, and it paid off as Gino Rossi twirled a long shot that bounced in front and skipped past the goal line to give Albany a 1-0 lead. Â
Â
Neither side was able to generate strong offensive opportunities in the first half, as the first shot on goal was not taken until the 42nd minute.
The Great Danes held a 7-3 advantage in total shots at the half but neither team could crack the opposition.
Jacob Harris stopped the only shot he faced in the half en route to a scoreless stalemate after 45 minutes of play.Â

From the Source
Colgate head coach
Erik Ronning: I am really proud of the way our guys grinded it out tonight after being down a goal against a tough, veteran Albany team. We found a way to pick up the tempo late in the game and push for the equalizer. That is a testament to our guys for their resilience and their drive to climb back and pick up a win against a good opponent. We have a lot of players that can help this team. We followed through on a lot of the tactics we wanted to focus on, particularly at the end of a game. There is always room for improvement, which is very exciting. I am happy for our guys on a very good win. We will now focus on recovering and getting ready for Hofstra on Thursday.
