RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The Colgate softball bats weren't able to get going against a strong Boise State squad Friday afternoon in a 4-0 loss to the Broncos at the UC Riverside Tournament.
The Raiders threatened right of the gates as Colgate loaded the bases with one out in the top of the first. Boise State pitcher Kelsey Broadus got out of the jam, however, to keep the Raiders off the board.
Sophomore pitcher
Jessica Hay limited the Broncos to just one hit through the first two frames until Boise State used three hits to plate two runs in the bottom of the third and put Colgate in a 2-0 hole.
A double from first-year
Mia Guevarra would be the only other hit for the Raiders as Broadus closed out her strong game. Boise State added two unearned runs in the top of the sixth to cement the 4-0 victory.
