HAMILTON –
Thanks to solid play between the pipes and a strong defensive effort, No. 4 Colgate was able to power past Brown 2-0 here Friday night.

The Raiders earned their seventh shutout of the season, most in program history.

Liz Auby, who got the start in net, denied each of the 21 shots she faced. Auby improved her save percentage on the season to .936 and goals allowed average to 1.30.

There was excellent play in net on both sides of the ice, as Brown goaltender Calla Isaac had 43 saves.

Just over five minutes into the second period, it looked as though the Raiders were going to take the lead. Shelby Perry avoided a Brown defender and then lifted the puck on-net, but Isaac was able to get a piece of it with her stick and deflect it over the cage.

Isaac shut Colgate down for the entire first period and the majority of the second.

Until Megan Sullivan lined up a one-timer from Bailey Larson with 3:04 remaining in the second frame. Sullivan hammered the puck opposite side top shelf to give the Raiders the 1-0 lead.

With just 3.1 seconds remaining in the second period, Jessie Eldridge was able to tack on a short-handed insurance goal. The reigning ECAC Hockey Player of the Week has recorded nine points in the last five games.

FROM THE SOURCE
Head Coach Greg Fargo
"We started a little bit slower tonight than we wanted to, in terms of some of the finer print areas of our game. What I really liked was we put that behind us and focused really well in the second and third. We came out and played two really good periods.

"I thought we had some really good looks. Their goalie played well and they clogged us up defensively and kept us away from the net. Credit them for keeping us outside. But at the same time, throwing 45 shots on net again is great and it was nice to come out with a couple goals on special teams.

"We've had periods of time where we're playing well, doing good things and getting good looks, but the puck isn't falling in the net. It's so important that we focus on the next shift, keep doing things the right way and eventually get rewarded. That was certainly the case tonight. We had some really good push in the second period, especially early, and it wasn't till late that we finally cracked the code."
