HAMILTON – The Colgate men's basketball team broke a 54-54 tie with a game-closing 20-6 run to capture a huge 74-60 win over Boston University and take over sole possession of second place in the Patriot League standings Wednesday night at Cotterell Court.
Colgate has won six of its last seven games as the Raiders improve to 9-2 at Cotterell Court this season. The second-place Raiders (9-4 PL) now hold a one-game lead over BU (8-5) in the Patriot League standings.

The Terriers got out to an 11-9 lead less than six minutes into the game before Colgate strung together a 14-2 streak over the next five minutes. Robertson led the Raiders during the run with nine big points as Colgate jumped ahead 23-13 with 9:22 left in the opening half.
The Terriers pulled all the way back within two at 32-30 as the clock wound down to 3:50. A pair of free throws from first-year
Jack Ferguson were followed by back-to-back three-pointers from O'Brien and junior
Francisco Amiel to string together an 8-0 Colgate streak. BU scored the final basket of the half, but Colgate carried a 40-33 lead into the locker room.
Three-pointers from O'Brien and Rayman and a layup from Batt helped Colgate put eight of the second half's first 12 points on the board to give the Raiders their largest lead yet at 48-37 just over two minutes into the term. BU quickly rattled off the next nine points to cut the Colgate lead down to two at 51-49.
The Terriers tied the game at 54 with 10:39 to play, but Colgate held BU scoreless for nearly five minutes as the Raiders put up the next eight points to pull back ahead 62-54 with 5:45 left on the clock.
BU wouldn't get closer than five the rest of the way as a Rayman three-pointer at 1:53 marked the first points of a 9-0 game-closing run to secure the 74-60 victory.

- Robertson's season-best 20 points came from a 6-for-13 showing from the field and perfect 3-for-3 clip from three-point range. He fell just one point high of matching his career high of 21 points. The senior also pulled down a team high-tying five rebounds.
- Rayman and Swopshire both tallied their 18th double-digit performances of the season.
- In addition to his 11 points, O'Brien also dished four assists and added four rebounds.
- Swopshire's 11 points were accompanied by five rebounds and two steals.
- Amiel dished a season-high six assists.

- BU shot 54.2 percent from the field in the opening half, but the Raiders held the Terriers to a 44.0 percent second-half mark. Boston U. finished the game 49.0 percent (24-for-49) from the floor, 47.4 percent (9-for-19) from three-point range and 42.9 percent (3-for-7) from the charity stripe.
