HAMILTON – Navy put together one of its best shooting performances of the season in a 69-42 victory over Colgate here Saturday afternoon.
The Mids shot 46.9 percent from the floor, or 6½ points higher than their season average and nine points above their Patriot League percentage coming into the weekend. Taylor Dunham was 5-of-9 from 3-point distance on her way to a game-high 17 points to lead four in double figures.
Colgate picked up nine points from
Abby Schubiger and nine rebounds from
Summer King to headline those categories.
The Raiders scored the game's first four points and Navy the next seven in back-and-forth action.
Keelah Dixon's 3-pointer with 3:14 remaining in the first quarter tied the score 11-11 before Navy reeled off the final seven of the period for an 18-11 lead.
Haley Greer knocked down a three with 7:42 left before half to pull Colgate within 20-14. Navy responded with nine consecutive points over the next 3:34 on its way to a 34-21 edge at intermission.
The Mids outscored Colgate 20-6 in the third quarter, limiting the Raiders to their lowest point total in that period this season. Colgate's best quarter was the 15-point final one when Schubiger scored five of her nine points.
