DELAND, Fla. – The Colgate softball team wasn't able to complete a comeback after facing a 7-0 deficit as Mount St. Mary's handed the Raiders a 9-2 defeat in the final game of the Hatter Invitational Sunday.

Holly Geranen and sophomore
Virginia Irby were named to the All-Tournament team at the conclusion of the weekend. Geranen hit .429 (6-for-14) with two home runs and three RBI over the weekend, while Irby hit .412 (7-for-17).

Kyle Griswold kept Mount St. Mary's off the board until a sacrifice fly gave the Mount a 1-0 lead in the top of the third. The Mount then added a single run in the fourth before breaking the game open with five runs in the fifth to take a 7-0 lead.
The Raiders got on the board in the bottom of the fifth as sophomore Caymen Coughlin roped a two-out RBI triple down the left field line. Irby followed with an RBI single up the middle to pull Colgate within 7-2 through five innings.
Mount St. Mary's answered with two runs of their own in the sixth to seal the 9-2 victory.
