HAMILTON – Griffin Brown and
Collin Orr played major roles in Colgate's weekend triumph over Cornell, and the pair were rewarded Monday with Patriot League awards.
Brown scored a career-high six goals, including a stretch of four consecutive from late in the third quarter to early in the fourth that gave the Raiders the lead for keeps. He earned Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week.
Orr matched his career high with 22 faceoff wins in 29 attempts, including 5-of-6 in the critical fourth quarter. The senior captain was named Patriot League Faceoff Specialist of the Week.
It's the first award in these particular categories for both Raiders. Brown was a three-time recipient of Patriot League Rookie of the Week last season on his way to Rookie of the Year honors.
For the year, Brown is second on the team in both goals with nine and points with 10. Orr owns a .658 faceoff percentage and is third on the team with 11 ground balls.
Colgate returns to action Saturday for its Patriot League opener against Bucknell. Faceoff from Crown Field at Andy Kerr Stadium is 1 p.m.
