Raiders Drop Series Opener at Bucknell 3-0

Bison Put Up Single Runs in Final Three Innings

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Colgate softball team wasn't able to get its bats going Saturday afternoon as the Raiders fell 3-0 at Bucknell in the opener of a three-game weekend series.

Junior starting pitcher Kyle Griswold limited the Bison to three hits through the first three frames as the game was scoreless heading into the fourth inning. Bucknell then put the game's first run on the board in the bottom of the fourth on a two-out RBI single from Christina Martinez.

The Bison used another two-out RBI base hit in the next inning, this one from Meghan Kovac, to add an insurance tally and pull ahead 2-0. Bucknell added one more single run in the sixth to stretch its lead to 3-0, but first-year reliever Brittany Bendel took the circle and struck out the final batter of the frame to leave the bases loaded and limit the damage.

First-year Nicole Rounsavill roped a leadoff triple to open up the seventh inning, but Bucknell pitcher Raeanne Geffert got three quick outs to thwart Colgate's rally attempt and secure the 3-0 shutout win for the Bison.
