LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell's strong pitching proved to be too much for the Colgate softball team as the first-place Bison earned 7-0 and 4-1 wins in a Sunday doubleheader at Becker Field.
Game one senior starter
Gillian Murray kept the Bison off the board in the first inning, but Bucknell used four hits and a Colgate error to plate four runs in the bottom of the second frame. The Bison then added three runs in the fifth to extend their lead to 7-0.
The Raiders scattered five hits off Bucknell's Lara Bean, but the pitcher went the full seven innings and kept her shutout in tact to lead the Bison to the 7-0 victory.
First-year pitcher
Brittany Bendel kept the Bison hitless until the fourth inning of the series finale. Bucknell then used a single, hit by pitch, sacrifice bunt and two-run double to take a 2-0 lead through four frames. The Bison added two runs in the following stanza to up their lead to 4-0.
First-year
Nicole Rounsavill finally got Colgate on the board with a one-out solo home run in the top of the seventh, but that was all the run production the Raiders were able to muster as Bucknell held on for the 4-1 victory.
