Raiders Wrap Up Hatter Invitational Saturday

Bushee, White Both Record Solo Home Runs in Day’s Opener

DELAND, Fla. – The Colgate softball team dropped tough games to a pair of strong opponents on the final day of Stetson's Hatter Invitational Saturday. The Raiders fell 8-2 to Ole Miss in Saturday's opener before dropping a 10-0 battle to No. 23 USF in the finale.

An RBI triple, RBI walk and sacrifice fly gave Ole Miss a quick 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning of the day's opener. The Rebels tacked on one more run in the second to stretch their advantage to 4-0.

After scattering three hits through the first two frames, Colgate was able to break through in the top of the third. Senior Katie Bushee took the first pitch of her at bat and sent it over the left center fence for her second home run of the season.

The Rebels plated three more runs in the bottom of the third before sophomore Pami White smacked her second home run of the season over the left field fence to put the score at 7-2 through three and a half. Senior pitcher Gillian Murray kept the Rebels off the board in the bottom of the fourth, but Ole Miss added one more in the fifth to pull ahead 8-2. Colgate wasn't able to put together a rally as the Rebels walked away with the 8-2 victory.

A sacrifice fly helped USF score an unearned run in the top of the first inning of the tournament finale. The Bulls added one run in both the third and fifth innings before putting up a seven spot on the sixth inning. Colgate wasn't able to get its bats going as the Raiders fell 10-0 to the nationally-ranked Bulls.
