Raiders Drop Road Game at League-Leading Bucknell

Three Raiders Finish in Double Figures

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Colgate men's basketball team was within six of first-place Bucknell early on in the second half, but the Bison used an 11-2 run to pull away for good en route to a 75-58 victory Monday night in Sojka Pavillion.

Three Raiders finished in double figures, led by first-year Will Rayman's 15 points. Junior Jordan Swopshire chipped in 13, while sophomore Malcolm Regisford added 10.

The Raiders got out to an early 7-2 lead thanks to baskets from Regisford, Swopshire and Rayman as Colgate kept Bucknell from converting a field goal until the 17:04 mark.  The Bison answered with a 14-2 run over the next four minutes, however, as Bucknell pulled ahead 16-9 with just under 13 minutes on the clock.

A three-pointer from Rayman snapped the Bison streak at the 11:54 mark and was followed by a pair of free throws from senior Nathan Harries as Colgate narrowed the Bucknell lead to 16-14. The Bison scored 11 of the game's next 13 points to stretch their lead to 27-16 and force a Raider timeout with 6:07 left on the clock.

Rayman's third three-pointer of the opening half was once against able to halt Bucknell's run, and was followed by a Swopshire jumper that narrowed the Bison lead to 27-21 with just over four minutes left in the term. Colgate was within five at 33-27 in the final minute following a layup from junior Sean O'Brien. Bucknell then scored four of the first half's final six points, including a last-second jumper, to take a 37-29 lead into the locker room.

The Raiders got back within six in the opening minutes of the second half following a pair of Swopshire free throws, but the Bison erupted on an 11-2 run to take a 50-35 lead with 15:16 to play.

The Raiders wouldn't be able to pull much closer the rest of the way as Bucknell held onto a double-digit lead for the remainder of the game. Several Raiders were able to see action in the game, but the Bison pulled away for the 75-58 victory.
