HAMILTON – The Colgate men's ice hockey team capped off a fantastic weekend at the Class of 1965 Arena Saturday afternoon as the Raiders knocked off the Dartmouth Big Green, 3-2, to complete the first weekend sweep of the season.
With the win, the Raiders remained unbeaten at home with a 4-0-2 record and extended their unbeaten streak to seven games for the longest unbeaten streak in the country.
Bobby McMann (Wainwright, Alberta) scored two goals to take over the team-lead with five on the season while
Mike Panowyk (Whitby, Ontario) tallied his fifth goal of the season as well.
Goaltender
Colton Point (North Bay, Ontario) tallied 28 saves in the game as he extended his personal unbeaten streak to 10 games at 6-0-4 to open up the season.
Dartmouth took a 1-0 lead 10:10 into the first period on

Corey Kalk's second goal of the season. Alex Jasiek chased down the puck in the right corner and circled back up into the right faceoff circle. Jasiek flung the puck on goal where it was redirected by Kalk past Point for the first goal of the game.
The Raiders battled back for a pair of goals in the second period to claim a 2-1 lead over the Big Green. Panowyk got the Raiders on the board with 8:40 left in the period with Colgate's fifth power-play goal of the season. After a scrum in front of the net which no one could control the puck, it shot out to Panowyk at the point who stepped into the shot for the game-tying goal.
McMann added the go-ahead goal for the Raiders just over four-and-a-half minutes later with his fourth of the season, positioning himself perfectly in front of the goal.
John Snodgrass (Eagan, Minnesota) passed the puck from the center of the offensive zone and off the right boards to
Ken Citron (Cos Cob, Connecticut) at the point. Citron threw the puck toward the goal were it deflected off Dartmouth's Kalk before deflecting again right off McMann's skate and past Clark for the goal.
McMann added a critical empty-net, power-play goal with 35.4 seconds left in the game as he skated from his own zone off a great pass from
Tyler Penner (Winnipeg, Manitoba) all the way to the goal for the easy tap-in.
Dartmouth's Matt Baker managed to score his first career goal with 6.4 seconds left in the game on a pass from Collin Rutherford to bring the Big Green back within a goal but could not complete the comeback.

Head Coach
Don Vaughan
"It's really important for us to get this sweep; we got one of those last year, so it was great. This young team is finding ways to win. Our structure again was good tonight and it was an entertaining game tonight. We certainly had some great possession time in the third period and we were fortunate to get that empty-net goal."
"It's a sweep. It's hard to win in this league and it's great on this Silver Puck Weekend to step up and get four points at home."
"The bench was good; that second one was huge. At 1-1, it's still obviously there's not much momentum swing but getting that second goal brought the bench alive. It's all a game of momentum. When we were down 1-0, we stuck to our game plan and our process, and found a way to even it up. We played a solid third period. They came hard and were able to get one there at the very end."
"Clearly you want to have some kind of home ice advantage. I've always said in our league if you win at home and can split on the road, you're going to be challenging for the top of the league every year. We're taking a lot of pride in playing at home. It's a beautiful building and it's our home now. Finally after being in it as long as we have now, it's starting to feel a little bit more like ours."
"We've got a few hours here to enjoy it then it's right back to work with, in my opinion, one of the best teams in country in Clarkson next Friday night followed by a St. Lawrence team that always plays tough against us. So our focus shifts pretty quickly."
