WASHINGTON, D.C. – A strong team effort lifted the Colgate women's soccer team to a big 3-0 road win at American Sunday afternoon in Patriot League play.
The victory runs the Raiders' unbeaten streak to six-straight games as the Colgate defense secured its fourth shutout of the season. Sophomore
Lindsey Wiley got Colgate on the board in the 25th minute before seniors
Emily Crichlow and
Eliza Doll added insurance goals.
The teams traded shots in the opening minutes before Wiley scored what would prove to be the game winner. Sophomore
Mara Cosentino sent a through ball to Wiley behind the American backline and Wiley finished it to put the Raiders up 1-0 in the 25th minute.
The Colgate defense then limited American to just one shot, which wasn't on frame, for the remainder of the half to keep the Raider lead at 1-0 heading into halftime.
Crichlow added an insurance tally in the 52nd minute when she deflected a shot off an Eagle defender just inside the box to move Colgate's lead to 2-0.
The Raiders controlled possession for the majority of the second term before an American foul in the box led to a Colgate penalty kick in the 83rd minute. Doll stepped up and buried the kick to give the Raiders the 3-0 lead they wouldn't relinquish.

Essential too, we the efforts of our three senior captains – Eliza Doll, Keely Lockwood and Emily Crichlow."
