Larson Nets Goal in Loss to Princeton

Raiders Suffer 5-1 Setback

HAMILTON – The #9/8 Colgate Raiders hosted the Tigers of Princeton this afternoon and despite outshooting the Tigers in all three periods, suffered a 5-1 loss.

The Raiders came out firing on all cylinders, looking to bounce back after Friday night's tough loss. They had several good looks early on including a hard shot from Breanne Wilson-Bennett less than three minutes into the first that had Princeton's Steph Neatby flashing the glove to keep the score 0-0.

With just under four minutes remaining in the first period, Carly Bullock put the Tigers up 1-0.

Sophomore Bailey Larson tied the game up with 1:55 left on the clock. Kaila Pinkney put a hard shot on net, which Shannon Ormel redirected right to a waiting Larson on the right post.

Princeton almost regained the lead midway through the second on a blast from Kelsey Koelzer that hit the pipe and rebounded back into play.

With time winding down, the Tigers found the back of the net to make the score 2-1, going into the third period.

Princeton netted their third goal of the game on a scramble in front of the net with eight minutes remaining to be played.

The Tigers added two empty net goals in the final minutes of regulation to make the score 5-1.

Colgate netminder Julia Vandyk ended the game with 17 saves, while Neatby recorded 34 saves.
