Krull leads Colgate at Saint Francis

Raiders' goalkeeper makes season-high 14 saves in 2-0 loss

LORETTO, Pa. – Goalkeeper Maria Krull (Leicester, Massachusetts) continued to shine for the Colgate field hockey team as she made a season-high 14 saves Sunday afternoon in the Raiders' 2-0 loss to the Saint Francis Red Flash at Degol Field.

Krull's 14 saves on Sunday gives her 23 saves in the Raiders' two games this weekend. On Saturday at Cornell, Krull recorded nine saves.

The Raiders and Red Flash went into halftime scoreless with Krull making 10 saves as she stood on her head all half. Saint Francis drew 12 first half penalty corners, but the Raiders kept them off the board turning away each one.

Whitney Jones (Sudbury, Massachusetts) tallied the Raiders only shot of the game nearly 13 minutes into the game but it was saved by Red Flash goalkeeper Elizabeth Dyer to keep the game knotted 0-0.

Brea Seabrook scored both goals for Saint Francis Sunday afternoon for her second career multiple-goal game.

Saint Francis took a 1-0 lead nearly three minutes into the second half as Seabrook fired a shot to the far post past Krull. The Red Flash added an insurance goal with 16:58 left in the game as they scored a goal off one of their 19 penalty corners. Hannah Retherford inserted the ball where it was stopped by Carly Gromel at the top of the arc and Seabrook rifled the shot through the Raiders defense.
