Box Score 2 ITHACA, N.Y. – Colgate split its game in the final day of the Cornell Invitational on Saturday.
The Raiders swept Marist in their first match of the day, defeating the Red Foxes in three sets (25-15, 25-21, 25-20). Sophomore
Amanda Smith recorded a season-high 10 kills to lead Colgate.
Colgate then fell to James Madison in three sets in its finale of the Cornell Invite (25-17, 25-21, 27-25). The Raiders were led by
Kathleen Harris who logged 13 kills and eight digs in the match.

- The Raiders would pull within three points at 18-15, but could not fight their way out of the hole to claim the set.
- Harris lead the way with five kills in the set, while
Molly Smith, Flaherty and
Katie Stebbins all pitched in two kills in the frame.
- JMU took the second set 25-21 after a tough back-and-forth battle at the end.
- Four consecutive service errors by both teams early in the set allowed Colgate stay within two points of the Dukes.
- JMU then went on a 5-0 run to take a 15-10 lead over the Raiders and it looked like Colgate would not be able to fight its way out of the hole.
- But the Raiders strung together a 9-3 run to take its first lead of the set at 19-18.
- The teams traded points until three attacking errors and a ball handling error gave JMU a 24-20 lead from which the Raiders could not come back.
- Harris and Stebbins both recorded four kills in the frame.
- JMU used a 6-1 run at the end of the third set to claim the game from the Raiders, winning the frame 27-25.
- The entire set was very back-and-forth, with each team being within three points or fewer of one another the whole way.
