2016-17 Canadian National Women's Development Team Roster

HAMILTON – Colgate's Shae Labbe was chosen as a member of Canada's National Women's Development Team just weeks after being invited to the selection camps in Calgary, Alberta.

"This is quite an honor for Shae to wear the Team Canada jersey for a second time," Colgate women's ice hockey head coach Greg Fargo said. "She has worked extremely hard to earn this opportunity and we are all very proud of her. She will certainly represent Colgate and Team Canada very well during her time with the Development team."

Labbe tied for third in points on an offense-laded Colgate team, finishing with 26 points from 11 goals and 15 assists in her first year as a Raider. The Calgary native helped Colgate achieve a No. 8 national ranking in the final 2015-16 polls.

The rising sophomore is joined by eight other ECAC Hockey members, consisting of three women from Cornell University, two women from both Clarkson University and Princeton University, and one from Harvard University.

Fellow rising sophomore goaltender Julia Vandyk had also attended the selection camp with Labbe.

The team begins its three-game series with the United States on Aug. 17 at 7:30 p.m. at the Markin MacPhil Centre in Calgary, Alberta. Game two will take place on Aug. 19 at 6 p.m. and the series will wrap up on Aug. 20 at 6:00 p.m.
