BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Colgate Softball saw Lehigh jump in front early here Friday afternoon and never look back.
The Mountain Hawks recorded a seven-run opening inning to create a large gap between the teams. Lehigh then added five more runs throughout the rest of the game to take the 12-0 victory in five innings.
Katie Bushee went 1-for-3 on the day thanks to a leadoff double to start the contest. She led the Raiders on offense, while rookies
Meghan Romero and
Baillie Jorth each earned walks.
Senior
Brigit Ieuter got the start in the circle for Colgate but allowed five hits and seven runs during her 0.1 innings of work. Fellow classmate
Megan Carnase came in for relief closing out the final 3.2 innings, giving up seven hits and five runs, four of which were earned. During her time in the circle, Carnase also struck out four batters.
Due to projected bad weather, Saturday's twin bill between these teams has been postponed until Sunday. Game times are still slated for Noon and 2 p.m. at Lehigh's Leadership Park.
