BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh took both games of a doubleheader here Sunday afternoon against Colgate to sweep the series 3-0.
The Raiders jumped in front 1-0 early in the nightcap after
Katie Bushee scored the Raiders' lone run of the weekend. Unfortunately, three runs for the hosts in the bottom of the third ultimately handed Lehigh a 3-1 win. In the opener, it was a scoreless ballgame after the first until the Mountain Hawks took the 1-0 edge in the bottom of the second. Lehigh then added three more runs in the third and four in the fifth to record a 8-0 victory in five innings.
In game one,
Katie Bushee moved to within two stolen bases of Colgate's career steals record. That mark currently sits at 49, which was achieved by Amanada Paolucci '02.
Bushee,
Marisa Dowling and
Gillian Murray all recorded hits on the day. Rookie
Lauren La Terra reeled in Colgate's only RBI, while Bushee accounted for the Raiders' one run.
Kyle Griswold had a strong outing in game two, going six innings allowing four hits and three runs. In the opener,
Brigit Ieuter gave up 11 hits and eight runs in 4.1 innings of work. On the day, the two combined to registered three strikeouts.
Colgate now shifts its attention to a midweek out-of-conference doubleheader with Binghamton. The Raiders and Bearcats will meet on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. on Eaton Street Field.
