Bushee Breaks Record Against Bucknell

Raiders Drop Doubleheader to Bison, 4-3 and 6-0

HAMILTON – Katie Bushee stole her 50th career base here Saturday afternoon to break Colgate Softball's all-time record.

The junior notched her 14th of the season and it was a big one as it pushed her past Amanda Paolucci '02 for tops on Colgate's career chart.

On the day though, the Raiders unfortunately dropped both games of a doubleheader with Bucknell, 4-3 and 6-0.

Bushee finished 2-for-7 with a run and has converted on all 14 of her stolen base attempts this season.

Rookie Pami White provided Colgate some offensive spark going 3-for-7 with an RBI in the twin bill. Tara Grennan recorded two hits, while three other student-athletes registered one hit each. Marisa Dowling reeled in two of Colgate's three runs on the day. Holly Geranen and Grennan accounted for the other two Raider runs.

Kyle Griswold pitched another solid game for the Maroon and White despite the loss in the opener. The sophomore allowed just three hits and four runs during seven complete innings of work. All four runs came in the fifth from one hit that left the ballpark. Griswold had a no-hitter going through 3.1 innings.

Brigit Ieuter got the starting nod in Game 2 and gave up 10 hits and six runs, four of which were earned, in her 4.2 innings of work. Megan Carnase came in for relief, allowing just one hit in the final 2.1 innings.

Griswold struck out four batters, while Carnase fanned one.

Colgate and Bucknell meet Sunday for the series finale at noon on Eaton Street Field. Live stats and video are available at the start.

Straight From The Source
• Colgate head coach Melissa Finley: (on her thoughts from the day) "I thought we came out strong and played well enough to win in our first game but didn't close the door when we had the opportunity. We left too many people on base and let them stay in the game. They are a strong enough team to take advantage of it. Kyle (Griswold) threw well enough in the circle to give us an opportunity to win with only scattering three hits but unfortunately one of those hits was the difference maker."

"When we stepped onto the field for our second game I don't think we had left the first game in the past and it showed. We were unable to pick ourselves back up and in this game you have to have a short memory and be ready to take advantage of every opportunity you have to play."

(on her thoughts from Bushee breaking Colgate's stolen base record) "I am really proud of Katie (Bushee) earning a career milestone today with the stolen base record. She should be very proud of that accomplishment and I'm looking forward to seeing how many more she can get!
